It depends on your viewpoint as to whether he was bad or not. He ousted the king and then sent him to trial, chopped off his head, and left my country in somewhat of a disarray. He also banned music, dancing, Christmas etc, in fact the peasants had a poor time of it. But he did do a great deal for parliament rules and set down laws, some of which are in use today. So as I said it depends on your viewpoint.
