because plants under go photosynthesis and make there own food to reproduce and create more producers. while consumers which are not plants and don't under go photosynthesis they are more liable to die out.

producers are things that get their energy from the sun like plants while consumers are things like animals that eat the plants, then their are other consumers that eat the consumers that eat the producers ect.

They have to! Without a producer, there wouldn't be any consumers. A food chain IS basically just a chain of producers and consumers in order of their trophic level.
