You have to be more specific to which arthropod you are researching. There are many classifications: insects, arachnids, crustaceans, etc. Some Spiders weave webs while others go out in search of food. Crabs, lobsters, and shrimps scavenge. Bees go around and outward from their hive in a circular motion in search of flowers.
Because of the diversity in phylum arthropoda there is no one strategy employed by all, although there may be a strategy employed exclusively depending on the specialization of one species. Arthropods can scavenge for detritus, graze (forage), predate (hunt), 'farm' (some ants grow and harvest fungi for example), 'ranch' (some insects manage lepidoptera larvae or aphids), use parasitism for the food source (lice), and there is even a rare example or two of direct exploitation of autotrophy. An examination of each subphylum would reveal strategies which relate to habitat and adaptations of mouthparts; it would be safe to say most insects are herbivorous, and many crustaceans are omnivorous, etc.
There are different kinds of Arthropods but some eat algae, other eat anything edible, some filter feed, and some hunt for their food. Hope it helps!:)
Arthropods and sponges are two major divisions in taxonomy called Phyla (singular, phylum). Phylum Arthropoda ("joint appendages"), or the arthropods, includes such creatures as insects, spiders, millipedes, crustaceans, etc. Phylum Porifera ("pore-bearing") are the sponges.
