This depends a lot on the type of waves you're talking about. Sound waves, for example, can travel through water, solid, and air mediums, but not through a vacuum. Electromagnetic waves, however, can travel in a vacuum.

What are three mediums that waves can travel through?

Not all waves require mediums to propagate.Sound waves can travel through solid, liquid and gaseous mediums, while, electromagnetic waves do not require any medium to travel through.

What mediums can an earthquake travel through?

It can travel through seismec waves.

What kinds of mediums can a sound waves travel through?

It can travel through a solid, liquid, gas, and plasma

Can Seismic waves travel through space?

NO! Seismic waves can't travel through space. They are mechanical waves. Mechanical waves require going through mediums and there isn't a medium in space.

What are the mediums that waves travel through?

Waves can travel through all the three medium that are known as solid, liquid and gas. Only the speed differs.

Why do waves travel through mediums?

Waves need not require medium to travel through. Only Mechanical waves like sound waves require medium to travel through. Electromagnetic waves travel in vaccum like light waves. Some waves transmitted in a medium due to disturbances in the medium .

What form does sound travel through a medium in?

Sound travels through mediums in sound waves.

Can s waves travel through solid?

yes, S-Waves can travel through many different types of mediums, such as rock, metal, and various fluids. they only travel through solids.

What mediums can heat waves travel through?

Heat in the form of infrared radiation can travel through many mediums, and some better than others. It can also travel through the vacuum of space. The more transparent the medium is to infrared radiation, the better it will travel through it.

What are the three mediums that waves can travel through?

Waves can travel through many media, depending on their nature. Sound waves can go through solids, liquids and gases. Transverse shock waves can only travel through solids. Electromagnetic waves can go through some solids, liquids or gases, or through a vacuum.

Can Fluids transmit P waves?

Yes, P (longitudinal) waves can travel through solid, liquid, and gaseous mediums.

How are light and sound waves different in terms of speed type of wave and mediums?

Light waves travel at approx 300,000 kilometres per second, sound at approx 0.343 kilometres/second.Light waves can travel in vacuum or through some media (there is no such word as mediums!). Sound waves cannot travel through vacuum: they needs a physical medium.

How does sound waves travel?

Sound waves travel though mediums. Solids , liquids , and gas . It also travels though transverse and longitudinal. Also travel through the air......

A wave that travels through a medium?

Mechanical waves travel through a medium. Sound is a mechanical wave that can travel through the mediums of air, water, rocks, etc.

What mediums can electromagnetic waves travel through?

One of the most intriguing aspects of electromagnetic waves is that a medium is not necessary for them to propagate. However, they do have the ability to travel through many mediums, including air, glass, water, gas, and crystals. they propogate by creating their own electromagnetic field.

Do Light Waves Require Mediums?

Light waves can travel through empty space. You might say that the empty space is the medium in this case.

What type of mediums do sound waves travel trough?

All matter. However, sound waves cannot pass through vacuums, such as space.

Did waves carries energy?

most kinds of waves need something to travel through. Water waves, for example, travel along the surface of the water. A wave can even travel along a rope. Gases (such as air), liquids (such as water), and solids (such as rope) , all act as mediums. Waves that require a medium through which travel are called mechanical waves. Some waves do not require a medium to travel through. Light can travel and carry energy through empty space. Waves that can travel without a medium are called electromagnetic waves. :)

What can travel in a vacuum?

Light or radioactive particles. They uses electro magnetic radiation as a medium for them to travel through, Waves like sound can not travel through vacuum because they need physical mediums like air.

In what medium do waves travel faster?

Waves travel faster in denser mediums. For example, sound travels faster in water than air.

How does sound travel through different mediums?

Sound travels the same way through different mediums. Sound travels faster in denser mediums.

Does sound travel faster through air or water?

Sound waves travel faster through denser mediums, and water is denser than air, so sound travels faster through water than air

What type of waves travel through matter?

The type of waves that travel through matter are Electromagnetic waves.

How do you know that light is an example of electromagnetic waves rather than mechanical?

Light does not travel as a mechanical vibration. It can pass through some mediums, but through a vacuum as well.
