Your expectations in your English subject may include improving your writing skills, expanding your vocabulary, analyzing literature, and mastering grammar and punctuation rules. You may also be expected to participate in class discussions and engage with various forms of written and spoken English.
On this particular subject I am not expecting a silabus to be imposed on the students. Instead the students themselves would bring topics they care about to the class, encouraging both research and discussion among the classmates with the supervision of the teacher.
Instead of imposing on students to read a particular piece of literature due the silabus, students would themselves read whchever books they wanted. They would have to convey to their classmates what their favorite part of the book was and maybe the message/lessons they got from it.
I am also expecting students to be able to explore the history of other countries besides their own, be that through books, movies or research.
Instead of focusing so much on the silabus there could be a focus on what were the achievemnets of humankind throught history and what those achievements really meant to increasingly productive, meaningful and confortable lives.
This subject is not about the material thought in the class, is about sharing knowledge, experiences and interaction among all class. The most important lesson that we might have in our schools but I would argue not to the extent I am describing.
