What are opinions on The National Society of Leadership and Success?

The National Society of Leadership and Success is NOT a scam. It is a fledgling honor society (very new, founded in 2001, as opposed to other long standing honor societies). Due to this, it may seem like a scam because there is no lasting reputation.

However, I can tell you that while it is NOT a scam. But the quality of the chapter will definitely depend on each of the chapter's officers. I attend UC Davis and I can say that the executive board of NSLS at UC Davis does their best and makes the events they host the best they can.

NSLS's program revolves mainly around 'Speaker Events' which are video recordings of motivational speakers. While some of them are really cool, I didn't particularly enjoy a couple. The speakers are very varied, there was a really cool one by Robert Kiyosaki (the author of Rich Dad, Poor Dad) but one by Linda Papadopolous (a famous psychologist/therapist from UK) wasn't very interesting.

I'm also part of Alpha Zeta and Phi Kappa Phi, and The National Society of Leadership and Success is the only one that actually has me doing something. For AZ and PKP, I just pay membership dues each year and that's it.

DISCLAIMER: NSLS is A FOR PROFIT honor society. I also know that MOST honor societies are FOR PROFIT as well, they just do a better job of downplaying it because they have a long standing reputation with their previous members. However, this does NOT mean that the members need to pay anything. Members simply pay an $85 membership fee and that's it. The money goes to paying the speakers and production costs for the recording. Whatever is left of that money goes to the pockets of the head office.

I don't feel like it is any different than some of the other longstanding organizations. As a matter of fact, it's cheaper. Some organizations will drain you dry just so you can walk around wearing the merchandise THAT YOU PAID AN ARM & LEG to buy!!!
