After millions of years of the rock degrating, it becomes an almost sand like substance. Rocks are broken down by the natural elements until it is in such small pieces that it is like sand. Add decomposed organic matter and you have soil.
Soil because sand is loose. soil also has small air sacks and then the water gets sucked in.

I would say Sandy soil because the little pieces of sand can fill in the empty spaces that the bigger pieces of sand can't fill. Hope that helps.
