She founded the National Council of Negro Women. She was one of Eleanor Roosevelt's closest friends. She founded the school that later became part of Bethune Cookman University and then was the President of the university.She worked towards more civil rights for African-Americans, espeicially women.

Some that African Americans don't contribute andything to society but if you look back at the worlds history without the African Maericans help we would not be in as goos of a place as we are now!
