There are no native reptiles on the island of Newfoundland. However, a number of none native ones have been found in some isolated cases. A few examples include snapping turtle, red-eared slider turtle and recently garter snakes. The snakes have been reported on a couple of occassions, however, 2010 was the first confirmed case by officials from the Inland Fish and Wildlife Division. They believe that we may now have a breeding population of garter snakes on the island and are currently looking for more evidence.
