You can make homemade bird feeders:

Stuff you need-

Pine cones

Peanut butter

Cereal

String

Scissors

Take a pine cone and smother it with peanut butter. You can sprinke cereal on it or bird food. Then tie it to a tree. It is a little messy but u=you can just put newspaper under the workspace to make clean up alittle easier

By definition, "an invention" is something new that someone thinks up on their own, therefore, they "invent it". So, no one can tell you some "invention" to make, because then, it will not be your invention (it would be mine, or the person who gives you the ideas)! <- and to not be a smart arse who comments something completely unhelpfull; you could invent: a new type of confectory (i liked to make chocolate popcorn as a child), a wooden elastic band gun, a new soft drink or (what I always though was an amazing idea) glow in the dark paint for walls with just some glow in the dark liquid mixed with a thickener you could buy and remove from another product.

Well kids could make it themselves. They could grab a piece of paper fold it in half, and then design it the way they want it :)
