Animals that do not move around are called sessile. Many water animals pick one spot and anchor themselves like trees. They feed by filtering water as it flows around them, then eating whatever they pick out of it. Most sessile animals do have moving parts, even though they do not move around. Their offspring are also usually motile, or able to move. These swim around and make up part of the plankton.
Some examples of Sessile animals are Blue Mussels, Sea Anemones, Sponges and Corals.
There are three Phylum or groups of the non-segmented animals. The three Phylum includes Sipunculans, Echiurans and Priapulida. Non-segmented animals are usually similar in the general appearance.
