In the United States, Continental Airlines has long been recognized as having one of the best frequent flyer programs. You can earn elite status with segments or miles (most airlines only give you miles), and you are upgraded to first or business class based on your elite status, not the price of your ticket. On Continental if you are Platinum Elite and bought a $300 ticket, you will get upgraded to first or business class before a Gold or Silver Elite who bought a $500 ticket.
Delta airlines is the opposite. They upgrade elite members based on ticket value first. This makes no sense because the Platinum Elites fly far more than Silver or Gold.
United Airlines introduced the very first Flyer Program. It is a loyalty program offered by many airlines. The first one provided plaques and promotional materials to members who would fly on their planes. Others that use this are American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and many other Airlines in the world.
There are a number of frequent flyer programs available from all major airlines. I personally like the Hawaiian Air Miles program as well as the Delta Sky Mile program.
American Airlines Advantage, Delta Sky Miles, and US Airways Dividend Miles are rated as very good programs by Business Travellogue. The tell you what the rewards are and how to get them at http://www.businesstravellogue.com/best-frequent-flyer-programs.
The vast majority of the major airlines around the world have frequent flier programs.
Tripadvisor.com can give you a variety of reviews for hotels and attractions, but they do not specialize in rating frequent flyer programs. The website http://www.webflyer.com bills itself as an authority on frequent flyer programs and has a lot of good information.
I need my frequent flyer miles account number. How do I find this out.
Yes, that is usually the case in most FF programs.
There is no standard definition in most frequent flyer programs. A person may have a frequent flyer number but only travel once per year. An airline will however define a Frequent Flyer as on who has reached Elite/Medallion level on a particular airline. There are various levels such as silver, gold, platinum/diamond etc. The mileages are typically 25K,50K,75K,125K miles flown per year.
i want srilankan frequent flyer number
That is a matter of opinion. It is likely in the next 10 years that some governments will find a way of taxing these frequent flyer miles.
You can apply for most frequent flyer programs on the airline's web site. Be sure to present your frequent flyer card when you check in for each flight, because sometimes it can be a hassle to get credit for miles retroactively.
Yes you can. Qantas and BA are part of the OneWorld alliance and reciprocate on their frequent flier programs.
Yes, AMEX are heavily involved with frequent flier programs. They have a very strong agreement with Delta airlines.
