Just as you would compliment any other woman. Just because she is from France makes no difference, everyone likes a compliment. Compliments can be, you are looking smartly dressed today, have you done something different with your hair it is looking well. Just be careful not to patronize.

COMMENT: (credit left with original poster): I agree. I speak some French. I am not native, and do not speak it with native fluency. But I know enough about the French language to know that

the difference between saying something that will warm a French woman down to her toes and have her grant you a big smile, and saying THE SAME thing in a way that will have her slap you savagely across the face, is a matter of tiny nuance! If you are not 100% fluent, the safest bet is to confine your comments to a pleasant smile, and the word: "Enchanté".
