No one food in particular causes Diabetes. However, an unhealthy diet can certainly lead to type two diabetes.

Type One, or Juvenile, diabetes is simply caused by a pancreas that does not function as it should.

Type Two, or adult onset (a misnomer, children get it too!) diabetes is caused by several factors, the most common one being severe obesity.

and some anerexic people get it too so most people think that being overweight causes it so people should know that that's not the only reason

Answer

My thought is that people who get diabetes tend to eat one large (1000 calories) meal a day. While considering a normal diet of small meals throughout the day may be the same, there is a difference. Your body is not equipped to put out all the insulin to handle such a large change to your intake of calories, carbohydrates and so on. Ice cream, processed foods, transfats, and high fructose corn syrup have to be some of the culprits along the way.

Diabetics should avoid food high in sugars, as the sugar is digested quickly and eating a lot at once can overload their body's ability to maintain homeostasis of blood sugar levels. Diabetics should not even eat a piece of fruit without adding protein to it first, such as ricotta cheese - protein slows the digestion of it, so that the body can deal with the sugar.

Along the same lines, diabetics should eat low GI foods. These are foods that are metabolised slowly.

Mostly, think white flour... bread, donuts, pasta, white rice, and other products made from white flour. People always reply "Soda, candy" but it's the white flour carbs. You need a balanced number of carbs, proteins, fats, and watchful over sugar. But white flour products convert to blood sugar (glucose) so that is most important.
