Metals are hard, malleable, ductile and shiny. They're good conductors of heat and electricity and are solid at room temperature with the exception of Mercury which is a liquid. Also, metals usuallyhave high boiling and melting points.

some characteristics of metals are good conductors of heat good and electricity, malleable, ductile, lustrous and generally have high densities, high tensile strength, high melting temperatures and boiling temperatures .

they have some valence electrons which can react, so they tend to donate electrons rather than receive. The few valence electrons they have, the easier it is to react. metals and acids form salt and water/carbondioxide/ hydrogen gas.
