The Catholic Church unites its people in only two to three good ways. When in church is "in Session" it provides a sense of community. They share a common meal "The Eucharist" and finally in some churches they bring past, present, and future together.
Paul taught us: "There is one body and one Spirit, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of us all, who is over all and through all, and in all" (Ephesians 4:4-6).
Christianity may seem to be divided into groups, but the unity of all Christians has been declared by God to be already established. It is up to us to make it apparent, as Paul also said, "Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace" (Ephesians 4:3).
We need to do more than we have done so far in obedience to Paul's injunction.

Somethings they do and somethings they don't. However the most important difference is about salvation. Catholics believe Jesus died so that we can earn our way to heaven by good works. Christians believe the Bible which says we are saved because God accepts the death of Jesus as a satisfactory payment for our sin. Catholics have other non-Biblical beliefs too, they put the traditions of the Catholic Church before God's word, they pray to saints, they believe Mary intercedes for them and many other non-Biblical beliefs.
England started turning Protestant and England seemed to be coming together. But when queen elizabeth heard of a possiable assasinatoin by the Catholics she then started to turn against the Catholics and banish them. England was also involved in the Spanish Armada and had to worry about the possiable invassion of Spain.
