ash-fall fossil formatin is very unique in its formation. 1. a volcano erupts, and ash is spread through the area. 2. an animal breathes in ash and dies. the animal is covered in ash. 3. soft tissues start to decompose as more ash starts to pile. 4. more ash continues to pile on top of the dead animal, and it turns to a rock. if this isn't very accurate go to www-museum.unl.edu/research/vertpaleo/ashfall.HTML

Fossils form due to several chemical and physical processes. Minerals have to sink deep into the bones, replacing organic matter. Layers of sediment build up and compress the remains. The small spaces between bones must be filled in by sediment. The fossils must remain in the rock until uncovered by erosion or excavation.
The four steps of fossilization are:
1. death of the organism
for ex. a fish
2. deposition: this process occurs quickly
for ex. a fish goes to the bottom of the sea and starts to get burried in sediment.
3. compaction: this process takes 100s-1000s of years
for ex. fish compacting under several layers of sediment
4. turns to fossil: this process takes 10,000s-millions of years.

Fossilization
Yes, it was formed during the process of fossilization
Total replacement of the minerals: replacement fossilization. Partial replacement of the minerals: perminalization fossilization.
In order to be fossilized, an organism must be suitable for the process. Bones and teeth are perfect for fossilization and the organism must be buried quickly to be preserved. The soil must be low in acidity and have high concentrations of minerals.
Sharks have been around for hundreds of millions of years. This means that their teeth have been available to the fossilization process for a long time.
i dont know the process but its like 6 steps!! i dont know the process but its like 6 steps!! i dont know the process but its like 6 steps!!

Fossilization
Original Preservation is the process of fossilization, where the actual organism is preserved in whole or in part.
Fossilisation; Fossilization for Americans.
I think your referring to fossilization.
