My idea to just combined these different answers from my research :)
Characteristics of a Good First-aider:
1. Gentle - should not cause pain
2. Observant - should notice all signs
3. Resourceful - should make the best use of things at hand.
4. Tactful - should not alarm the victim.
5. Sympathetic - should be comforting
6. Empathetic - has the ability to understand the feelings & emotions of the victim.
7. Respectable - so they will believe & trust you as a first-aider.
8. Cheerful - inspires & develops confidence to the victim
9. Ongoing education - must learn how to operate new and improved equipment and get re-certified every few years based on the requirements in a state.
