There are many types of whales but blue whales are a specific species (characterized mostly by it's physical appearance, being the largest type of whale). Other whales include sperm whales, beluga whales, Narwhals, bottlenose whales and many more.

There are some reasons for that. Blue whales are considered as the largest animal in the world. Whales are technically the ocean's apex predators. Amazingly, whales are the nonary consumer of the ocean food chain! The ocean food chain is pretty long! The whales usually feed on sharks, which is a scary fish, so they're essential to human beings. Humpback whales and bigger whales like the right whales can even eat the megalodon shark, which is a prehistoric giant shark that already went extinct. All whales eat sharks but whales smaller than humpback whales like the minke whale can't eat the megalodon shark as they aren't big enough. In the past, before boats were invented, people sometimes ride on blue whales to travel across the sea with enough skills. Unfortunately, sharks are recently getting killed quickly because of human activity, therefore the whales are experiencing famine due to less sharks, which is the food for them to eat. Fortunately, we've invented boats, so travelling across the sea would be easier.
