Personally, I like poetry. However, I think people don't like it due to the fact that they don't understand it. Poems are filled with imagery and allusions. It's boring stuff for a lot of people but it's really quite interesting. Poems such as Jabberwocky, use all of your sense and make you use your imagination. Just think back to when you were a kid and your parents read you Dr. Suess books. Those were poems.
