What are the advantages of tsunamis?

One advantage to a tsunami is the discovery of deep sea life, occurring because of tides pulling back and carrying the creature through the wave. As the wave hits, the creature is deposited onto the beach for scientist then to find and study it.

An undersea earthquake may suddenly displace a large amount of water. As the water ripples outwards, a tsunami may begin to form. A small wave to begin with, as it moves across vast areas of ocean it may not even be noticeable from a ship. As the wave reaches the shallow seabed surrounding land, the momentum and friction causes a wave to form, gaining in height. The tsunami sweeps inland until the power inside the wave is spent. The spent wave starts to flow back towards the sea, carrying debris and leaving death and destruction behind.

Therefore, being able to forecast a tsunami is very important.
