Astronomy is not necessarily studied in one particular manner; however, certain subjects are studied through telescopes for instance stars and planets. Stars have been studied for centuries through telescopes and through various filters of telescopes in space. Planets are studied off of the light that reflects from their surface.

Aristarchus was the first to advocate heliocentric or sun-centered universe and was soon advocated also by Pythagoras during 6th century B.C. However, during the middle of 2nd century A.D.. Ptolemy advanced the Geocentric Theory which placed the earth at the center of the universe. After almost 13 years heliocentric theory was revived by Copernicus. It was firmly established because of the invention of telescope and the discovery of laws of gravitation and motion.
