Well, for one you won't have children. Obviously. I wouldn't say that is a disadvantage, but then again, who would want children if they're using contraceptives. Quite frankly, the disadvantages depend upon what type of contraceptive being used.

Birth Control pills increases the risk of blood clots to some degree, some suffer infections due to IUDs and some may be allergic to the material most commonly used in condoms. Also, with birth control pills hormones are releases into the urine, and as sewage plants usually can't catch those hormones eventually ends up in lakes and streams where they can affect the fish.

None. There are certain side effects of birth control pills and some religions claim it's questionable...but if you're a healthy female and a healthy male, and you take steps to prevent pregnancy, then you're doing just fine.
