Well, for starters, they are making people who live anywhere around them sick, and they also create these chemicals that seep into the ground and can contaminate the ground water. they of course are attracting varmints and other creatures that scavenge on the rotting trash, and produce methane gas (there are ways to solve that, which a lot of people of working on that now, powering buildings, plants, etc.) And they probably aren't to great for the local animals. ∙ 12y agoLandfills are mainly a problem because toxics and bad chemicals leak into ponds and rivers and most of the fish can get very ill or mabye die. Second the polute the air and then that happens to be something bad for us to breath in.Third landfills are taking up lots of our land and that can also take away habitats for other mamals and other animals.
