The stingray has eyes on top of its head so it lays in the sand but still be able to see its prey. Skates and rays have flatened bodies with the gill slits opening on the underside. The stingrays have a defensive strategy, a poisonous spine at the base of the tail. The stingrays pectoral fin allows the stingray to move by flapping of forming ripples. Because their eyes re on top of their bodies and their mouth is underneath, stingrays cannot see their prey instead they use smell.
