The Sahara Desert is a hot, sandy desert. Antarctica is a continent with a large desert covering much of it's surface. It is of course cold and much of it consists of the East Antarctic Ice Sheet, although the dry valleys in the trans-antarctic mountains are not ice covered, and have sand dunes like more temperate deserts.

The differences between the Sahara and Antarctica are numerous, However the same can be said for similarites, The Sahara and Antarctica both fail to receive rainfall. The Sahara doesn't get rainfall because it is simply too hot, due to the shortage of water in The Sahara, clouds are not formed, so rain cannot fall. In Antarctica; the rain freezes almost instantly after it enters the atmosphere. Because of this there is no snow in Antarctica either, it is all just ice. If the whole of Antarctica melted, the world's oceans would rise by around 60-65 metres! Because The Sahara and Antarctica don't receive rainfall, they are both deserts.
