They expect more from you because the standards are higher in high school. ---- A high school teacher can expect more in quantity and quality of information: after all, these are the years preceding college. They can assume their students have developed a maturity in their writing, and are able to delve deeper into hidden meanings and inferred motivations by the author and the characters of a text. they can expect in-depth analysis of texts. However, a Middle school teacher is still building on the crucial foundations set by primary school teachers. they are more likely to have a better understanding of developmental differences in children's learning capabilities, and a better understadning of how to lay the foundations for literacy (and numeracy).
