What are the differences between a traditional hero and a modern hero?
allow me to expound futher, triditional: One who acts in consciiousness of heart and soul. modern: one who acts on what he/she was tought to do or perform. as in Doctors, astronauts, firefighters, paramedics, etc.. the modern kind of takes away from the true meaning of the word "HERO".Answer A traditional hero plays by the book, he doesn't bend or break the law, doesn't smoke, drink or cuss, will not lie and helps little old ladies across the street. Like Atticus Finch, Roy Rogers, The Lone Ranger, Superman etc... A modern hero may be on either side of the law, will bend or break the rules to his benefit, he may steal, will certainly lie, smokes, drinks, cusses and helps little old ladies across the street. Like Dirty Harry, Lazarus Long, and others. Of course this is only the general differences, both types of heros have the same focal point, the common good of the people.

An epic hero is based on the Epic Tradition found firstly in the Epic of Gilgamesh, written in 2300 BC. He is usually a fearsome, strong warrior; always holds a position of power, such as Gilgamesh is a king, Beowulf is a leader of men then a king; he usually has some kind of religion; he learns s…omething after completing a great journey; he is always concerned with his own mortality. A Tragic Hero was created by Shakespeare; he is the example of the 'human hero', for example 'Othello'. A tragic hero represents a human at his best, either as a leader of an army, a king, etc, but through the course of the narrative falls from grace. It is the concept that our human flaws (Greed, fear, jealousy) bring our downfall. (English BA Degree student) ( Full Answer )

Traditional or old-type farming or early farming was focused more on subsistence than actually growing anything to sell, like with the modern farming methods. It involved much more manual labour and for longer hours than the more modern methods of today. Cropland was smaller, horses and oxen or stea…m-engines were used primarily for tilling, seeding and harvesting fields and crops, and there were no such things as fertiliser or pesticide chemicals to use in the fields, nor were there GMO crops nor nearly as many cultivars or varieties of a certain crop species to choose from. Farmers were highly dependent on climate and the weather to be able to bring in some profit margin or to help put food on the table. Livestock were always grazed out of doors, and managed just enough so that the offspring could be sold for some sort of profit. Selective breeding wasn't really started until 400 years ago (or around the 18th century). Modern farming is still highly dependent on climate and weather to be able to bring in a profit. Except for greenhouses, the vast majority of farms that grow crops cannot grow them indoors; with a vast amount of acreage to cover, it is impossible to grow cereal, oilseed or pulse crops under a climate-controlled area. Many vegetables are and can be grown indoors, but again, most of them are plant outdoors like they have been for hundreds or thousands of years. Modern farming is primarily an industry that involves growing food to feed many people from all over. The farmer is not growing food for himself, but rather for others who cannot grow food themselves. It involves much bigger equipment and less labour requirements (or rather, less people to hire) to cover a certain area of a field than what could be done 100 or 200 years ago. Fertilizers and pesticides are commonly used to get a much more cleaner crop with bigger returns per acre, and more varieties or cultivars of a certain species of plant are made available to farmers to grow for better yields, less lodging, more robustness and durability throughout the growing stages, and more growth or competitiveness over other plants that would be considered weeds. Crops are not just grown for human food, but for animal feed as well. Different varieties and cultivars are created for that purpose, and animals are selected so that they gain more efficiently on these feeds than they were designed to in the past. Livestock in modern farming and agriculture have been selected to grow twice as fast and "finish" half the time that it would normally take a steer, broiler, lamb or goat to finish 200 years ago. Livestock are selected to be more efficient according to what they are fed and how they are managed, be it for grain or for grass. There are more options out there on how to manage different species of livestock than in the past. Many animals are now raised indoors in intensive operations, much more so than in the past. Some types of livestock though are still raised as they were in the past, such as goats, sheep, beef cattle and a fair population of horses, but their genetics have changed over time to meet market demands and a producer's demands. In the developed countries, food is much more readily available with the onset of modern agriculture than in traditional agriculture. Food can easily be shipped from thousands of miles away to a grocery store near you, enabling you to get anything you want no matter the cost. Yet another notable difference between traditional and modern farming is the ability to network information to others who are involved in farming, want to get into farming or are not farming but involved in some form of agriculture just the same. Thanks to the Internet and governments more willing to support agriculture, information doesn't have to be passed down from generation to generation anymore, it can be passed across cyberspace to complete strangers who are interested in the same industry as the person sharing the information. In the past, tips and tricks and methods to run a farm were passed down from grandfather to father to son, hardly ever from farmer to farmer half a world away from each other or a hundred miles away. Today, a producer can learn about how things are done around East Texas, USA when he lives in the northern part of Alberta, Canada, or any other part of the world. ( Full Answer )

In Judaism the concept of Messiah is within the boundaries of human actions sort of speak or within the historical progress, metaphors or archetypes of the Messiah (although A hero messiah or a prophet Messiah arent exactly the common Jewish phrases) are common within Jewish thinking. the two …common archetypes are one from the house of Joseph and one from the house of David - as the historical task of redemption can take many forms many believe that the David like Messiah would be able to bring both real politic achievements and spiritual achievements. a hero and a prophet. It's a grey area, in terms of subject matter & techniques. But it could be termed modern if you use stuff like dung or whatever on canvas or whatever. (john here) Traditional painting (and sculpture) demanded realistic rendering of subjects from life. Artists were dependant on patronage so they pa…inted what the patrons would approve and that was often flattering portraits of the patron, his family, even his horses and dogs. 19th and 20th century artists wanted to free their imaginations and impressionism ,expressionism, dada, cubism, etc . all appeared in a rush. Much modern art is rubbish but critics are afraid to denounce it for fear of being tarred as neanderthals. But much modern art is brilliant. ( Full Answer )

A hero is limited only by the courage in his heart whereas a 'superhero' relies solely upon whatever power(s) he has to perform an act or acts of courage .
A 'hero' does great deeds and/or has great powers. A 'tragic hero' has the same greatness, but there's an unhappy outcome in store. 'Tragic' refers to that unfortunate, unhappy consequence that tends to be loss of one's own life or of whomever or whatever gives meaning to that life. For examp…le, Antigone does the great deed of seeing that her brother Polyneices' god-given rights to proper funeral procedures are respected. But in so doing, she loses her life. In the way of another example, Antigone's father, Theban King Oedipus, does the great deed of ending the cruel tyranny of the Sphinx over the city and citzens of Thebes. But in so doing, he ends up being rewarded with a royal wife and a royal job. Unbeknownst to him, the royal marriage leads him down a path to incest and anguish, because Theban Queen Jocasta turns out to be his own mother. The royal job leads him down a path to self-mutilation and disgrace, because he ends up having to punish a murderer who turns out to be himself. In both cases, Antigone and Oedipus are heroes whose lives head in unfortunate, unhappy and therefore tragic directions. ( Full Answer )

Traditionally, crops were rotated and the land rested every third year, to re-energize. Modern agriculture usually grows the same crop in the same field, year after year, depleting the soil of many elements. (No longer true. This is generally only done when the government is subsidizing farmers to s…uch a degree that they would lose a huge amount of money if they did not, or in communist countries where the central planners will shoot them if they do not produce what they are told.) Artificial fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides and insecticides are also used excessively these days. (Opinion, and a silly one at that. No farmer wants to spend the money to pay for excess fertilizer or insecticide if they do not have to do so.) Traditional agriculture relied on dung to fertilize crops, making disease prevalent amongst farmers. It required that a huge percentage of the population toil in the fields for weeks to plow, plant, water, weed, kill insects and harvest. After all of this work, the land tended to produce very little food, and in times of bad weather or war, might produce nothing and result in starvation. Modern agriculture tends to rely on machines, genetic modification of crops, application of fertilizers and insecticides that work extremely well and do very little damage to the people that eat the crops. It requires very few people to produce huge quantities of food, and is much less-likely to face large disruptions in supply. . ( Full Answer )

For example, many peopleconsider Harriet Tubman a hero for helping thousands of blacksescape from slavery. Also, many people consider Rosa Parks andMartin Luther King heroes for their bravery and c…onfidence whichhelped to end segregation. The fire fighters in 9/11 weredefinitely heroes for their extraordinary bravery and couragesaving millions of people while putting their own lives in danger.Life guards who have saved people are also considered heroes. A legend is someone who is remembered for their impact on societyor culture. For example, one of the best examples of a legend isElvis Presley. Even though he never did anything brave orcourageous (like a hero), he dramatically changed the evolution ofmusic in America. Before him, no one had ever heard of rock n'roll. There are many other music legends such as The Beatles andTupac Shakur. Christopher Columbus is considered a legend fordiscovering America. BUT.. a legend isn't the same thing as justbeing famous.
