In general, the elements on the left side of the Periodic Table are metals. The elements in group 1 at the far left side of the periodic table are called alkali metals.

The metals are on the left side of the periodic table. All of groups I & II, and all but one of the elements in group III are metals; also some elements in groups further to the right.

At the very right, they are called Noble gases.Around the second to the last right, they are called non metals.Finally, third to the last on the right side are called poor metals.
