You can edit photography. You can create your own images. It looks more professional than using other software. There are a lot more visual tools to use. You can combine imagery and text together.

The main one is that when an artist produces a piece of work, it doesn't matter if somebody doesn't like it. Sometimes, that's the point. Maybe that's where the art comes in, but if it affects the objective of the sign - it fails.

This is a clear point of difference between art and design. If an artist designs a sign that doesn't work, it can still be art - indeed the more obtuse and 'conceptual' the better. But it isn't design. You see?"

I am going to school for graphic design, so if your like me and get confused why your layouts aren't smelling like roses to your professor and classmates...remember boys and girls GRAPHIC DESIGN IS NOT ART!! you'll be looked at like an idiot and a metal retard. its cause you my friend are probably an artist first like myself. so while your in school for graphic design forget about art while your in school unless otherwise told not to ..or you won't quite understand. i learned this the hard way.. IF YOU LIKE TO DRAW PICTURES ON A COMPUTER OR DO DIGITAL ART DO ILLUSTRATION. GRAPHIC DESIGN IS ABOUT TYPOGRAPHY, STRUCTURE AND FORM..NOT PRETTY PICTURES LIKE EVERYONE FOR SOME REASON THINKS.....love your uncle jay =)
