It depends on what you define as "holy city". There are the cities associated with the life of Jesus: Jerusalem (Passion, Death, and resurrection of Jesus), Bethlehem (Birth of Jesus), and Nazareth (where Jesus lived before His ministry). Then there are the ancient patriarchal seats of the early leaders of the the Christian Church; Rome, Jerusalem, Antioch, Alexandria, and then later on Constantinople. Other cities of importance include Nicaea (site of many church councils), Avignon (site of the Papacy for a short time), and Wittenberg (birthplace of Lutheranism and the Protestant Reformation). There are other cities that have become important as sites of pilgrimages, shrines, or famous churches/cathedrals, these are many in number but some of the largest are Santiago de Compostela (Spain), Aachen (Germany), Mt. Athos (not really a city, more of an small island covered in monasteries in Greece with a large body of religious), Moscow, Lourdes (France), Canterbury (England), and Bari (Italy).

Christianity doesn't really have a Holy city because Christians believe God is omnipresent and He can be worshipped anywhere, any time. Jerusalem does have some significance in Christianity but I think it is not considered a Holy city. Rome also has significance, as it is where the Vatican is, the headquarters of the Catholic church, the home of the Pope, who is the head of the Catholic church, and the burial place of St. Peter.

That would depend on the denomination. If you are Catholic, you probably consider the Vatican and Jerusalem to be "Holy cities". If you are Protestant, you either consider Jerusalem to be a "Holy city", because that's where Jesus died and the temple was, or you don't revere any cities, seeing as that could take away from worshiping God.

Christians don't tend to put cities into their worshiping of God, unlike Islam, Judaism, etc., but Catholics, at least, highly respect the Vatican as a very Holy place, seeing that is where the Pope lives.

I won't say which form of thinking is right, considering the fact that no one, including me, knows the absolute truth on the matter.

God is called 'the God of Jerusalem' in 2 Chronicles 32:19. Jesus cried out HIs desire to care for the peoples of Jerusalem in Matthew 23:37. And King David asked us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem in Psalm 122:6.
