The six defenses of the immune system are:

  1. Structural- This is made up of skin, gastric juices from the stomach, and the mucus lining of the nose and mouth. The majority of germs don't get past this defense.
  2. Cellular- This is made up of white blood cells, which search out and destroy germs.
  3. Chemical- T cells decode germs and create antibodies, which takes time.
  4. Inborn- This is a passing of genetic information from parent to child such as how tall parents have tall kids. This information is responsible for a lot of people's resistance to disease.
  5. Passive- Through medical vaccinations, we can produce a defense against a disease.
  6. Lymphatic- Lymph nodes and lymphocytes filter out germs from the fluid of the body.
