It's the midnight before Christmas

There's a blue spruce by the hearth

You can almost hear St Nicolas

Coming down from the north

There he'll leave the presents

Around the twinkling tree

Wrapped up neath the mistletoe

Is the gift of you and me

In this old white doorway our family highway

Where our kids are measured

An inch at a time

This old white doorway with cards and holly

Will frame for always

The love that's yours and mine

There's clatter by our bedside

And though it's barely dawn

Then a little voice in the darkness

Says come see Santa's gone

So we wade through a paper mountain

Of silver red and green

To our place beneath the mistletoe

And watch the kids unwrap their dreams

In this old white doorway our family highway

Where our kids are measured

An inch at a time

This old white doorway with cards and holly

Will frame for always

The love that's yours and mine

Winters passing through this doorway

But tonight it's stopping here

Where the love and light burn so bright

It will last throughout the year

In this old white doorway our family highway

Where our kids are measured

An inch at a time

This old white doorway with cards and holly

Will frame for always

The love that's yours and mine

It has been awhile since I've heard the actual song but I play it often at Christmas on my guitar, this is the words I have used in the past they are close but there may be a few phrases that are not 100% correct but it gets the job done. hope you enjoy it's a great song
