There are 7 main classification of Planets. They are classified into the following groups; * Inferior Planets * Superior Planets * Inner Planets * Outer Planets * Terrestial Planets, * Jovian Planets * Gas Giants
There are the four inner, rocky planets are also known as the terrestrial planets. These are; Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars. Then there are the four outer gas giant planets are Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. The inner planets are smaller and have a higher average density. The outer planets are much larger, but have no real surface - just atmosphere that gets thicker as you travel inwards.
Two main reasons. Firstly, the inner planets are a lot less massive, so their overall gravitational pull is lower than the larger gas planets. Secondly, there is, or has not been, as much material closer to the sun. As a result, the inner planets have captured fewer moons between them. These tend to be the cause of the rings in the outer planets, where orbiting bodies can break up and scatter around the planet in discs.
The Inner planets are Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars. They are the planets closest to the sun. They are similar in that they all have solid surfaces, are almost the same size and have at least one moon.
Because it formed in the outer part (further away) area of the solar system. Also because it is past the asteroid belt between mars and Jupiter, therefor all planets past it is consiterd an outer planet

Outer planets are made up of gas and dust particles, and are farther out due to their gravitational attraction to the sun, while inner planets tend to be rocky and smaller.
The planets revolve in elliptical orbits. The inner planets have orbits 230 million km or less from the Sun. The outer planets have orbits 775 million km or greater.
The inner planets are smaller, and do not have the dense atmospheres of the outer planets. The four inner planets (Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars) have warmer temperatures than the exteriors of the outer planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune).The "gas giants" have very hot lower atmospheres, caused by the intense pressure. The atmospheres are mostly hydrogen, but for Uranus and Neptune there are higher levels of water, methane, and ammonia. All of the gas giants have multiple moons and rings, the most visible being the ice rings around Saturn.they are divided by inner and outer and the outer planet are the planets that have bigger planets.
The main Asteroid Belt.
The Inner Planets (Mercury, Venus. Earth, and Mars) have many differences between the Outer Planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune), some of the main ones as follows: • All the Inner Planets are terrestrial planets, while the Outer Planets are gaseous planets. • Comparably, the Outer Planets are much bigger than the Inner Planets. • Mars, the Inner Planet with the most moons has no more than 2 moons. However, each of the Outer Planets have at the very least 10 moons each. • The Outer Planets have much longer orbital periods than the Inner Planets, due to the fact that they're further away from the Sun. • Venus, the Inner Planet second closest to the Sun, has extremely hot temperature conditions (an average of 870 F or 450 C), but the Outer Planets have very cold weather, all in negative degrees of at least -240 F or -150 C. Also, Venus is the hottest planet, and Uranus is the coldest one.
Mars is an "inner planet", but it's not in the main asteroid belt. There are the inner planets, then the asteroid belt, then the outer planets.
Mars is considered an INNER planet. It is the 4th of the 8 major planets in distance from the Sun, and is closer to the Sun than the Main Belt of asteroids. The main difference is that the inner planets are smaller and are nearer the sun te outer planets are after the earth starting with Mars and ending with Pluto.
