Mostly hormones, enzymes, buffering agents, emulsifiers, and other chemical. And then also autonomic tonic and peristaltic muscle muscle activity. The special senses like sight, smell, taste, and touch also play a role in preparing the digestive system to function properly.
The main physical aspect behind the digestive system is your muscles. First the food goes into your mouth. Right there you use your muscles to chew your food and your saliva starts the first break down of the enzymes so your food can go through your throat and then down into your esophagus. Once you swallow the food will pass through the opening in the back of your mouth (throat) then it will proceed down the esophagus which is a muscles. This muscles tenses up and pushes the food through. Now your food goes to the stomach. Your muscles squeeze your stomach multiple times (but not hard enough so you feel it. the muscles do it soft enough so you can still do you every day activity without feeling your food being broken down). As your muscles in your stomach squeeze your stomach in and out the acid in your stomach breaks down your food. Once your food is broken down then it goes into the small intestine for the actual digestion. The certain vitamins and minerals your bodys need it is absorbed through the small intestine. Your small intestine uses muscles to squeeze the food through itself to the large intestine. Once the food hits the large intestine it just waits until it is ready to be excreted. Your muscles again squeeze the food in the large intestine out of the body. And that is generally the whole physical process in the digestive system.
Mastication (chewing) in the mouth. This increases surface area of food (breaking it down into smaller pieces easier for digestion). Deglutition (swallowing) could also be considered mechanical.

The main function of the digestive system is to get the food and water you drink through your body.
The main function of the throat in the digestive system is to transport food from the mouth to the stomach.
The digestive system is the system that makes food absorbable into the body
The relation between the circulatory system and the digestive system is that the digestive system makes energy so the energy goes to the heart and that is what makes it pump.
Jellyfish have a simple digestive system. They have a digestive cavity with cells lining the wall that carry out the digestive function.
