From lowest to highest in the enlisted ranks: Airman Basic, Airman, Senior Airman, Staff Sgt, Tech Sgt, Master Sgt, Senior Master Sgt, Chief Master Sgt.

On the officer side of the house. 2nd Lt, 1st Lt, Captain, Major, Lt Col, Col, Brig General and then Major General.

Usually, the highest ranking officer in a State National Guard is a Major General (2 stars)
