The most abundant oil available in biblical times was that of Pure Olive Oil. It is first consecrated for the purpose of anointing, and is not used for any other purpose, neither is it contaminated with any other oil. When the container is empty new oil is consecrated.

Roman Catholic AnswerPre-baptismal anointing is done with the Oil of Catechemens, which is blessed olive oil. Post-baptismal anointings are done with Sacred Christm which is consecrated olive oil with perfume added. The post-baptismal anointing with the Sacred Chrism is a sign of consecration.

from

The Catechism of the Catholic Church, second edition, English translation 1994

1293 ... Anointing, in Biblical and other ancient symbolism, is rich in meaning: oil is a sign of abundance and joy; (Cf. Deut 11:14; Pss 23:5; 104:15) it cleanses (anointing before and after a bath) and limbers (the anointing of athletes and wrestlers); oil is a sign of healing, since it is soothing to bruises and wounds; (Cf. Isa 1:6; Lk10:34) and it makes radiant with beauty, health, and strength.
