People who study light are called "optical scientists" or "optical physicists." They research and study the properties, behaviors, and applications of light, which is a vital aspect of physics and engineering disciplines.
Scientists who study time are generally known as chronobiologists. They explore biological rhythms and how they are influenced by time-related factors such as light and temperature.
Those who study the sky scientifically, OUTSIDE the Earth's atmosphere, (space, the stars, etc.), are called, as a general term, astronomers. Those who study the sky unscientifically with regard to the signs of the Zodiac, (Pisces, Cancer, Taurus, etc.), are called astrologers. Many people confuse the two terms. People who study the sky only as far as within the Earth's atmosphere, (Clouds, wind etc.), for purposes of tracking the weather or Earth's climate, are called meteorologists.
People who study constellations are called astronomers or stargazers. They observe, analyze, and research the patterns of stars in the night sky to understand their movements and significance.
The study of things in the past is called history. It involves researching and analyzing events, people, cultures, and societies that existed before the present time.
Muscology is the study of mosses. Muscologists are people who study mosses.
The scientists who study genetics are called geneticists.
