It all depends. If you want a social, contact or family vistit. For a family visit you need to be immediate family, married, and first and foremost you need to get approved by the state. Very long dry process. but if your married to the guy that's all good!

You will need to first get approval form CDCR. The prisoner needs to sign and send you a visitor questionnaire. You then mail the completed application to the visiting sergeant.

The prisoner will be informed if you are approved or not, and will need to notify you of your approval. You will then be put on a computer approval list. You will need to show current photo ID, and you will be searched.

Most prisoners in general population are allowed contact visits. You should dress conservatively and not wear clothing that resembles the prisoners or the custodial staff. There are also restriction regarding items you can bring with you.
