As a salon professional, I have looked into this treatment extensively since we're all looking for that miracle straightening system. Unfortunately, what I found out is DEEPLY concerning. Most systems contain formaldehyde, and strong concentrations of it. That's why its recommended for the person receiving and the person applying to wear a mask. Formaldehyde is VERY dangerous to work with, I would encourage you to do a little web research on it specifically, as most of the people who offer this service won't just volunteer that info.

I've heard of it being done on unprocessed African American hair, but like I said before, I would do some web research on formaldehyde and any side effects of exposure and inhalation and if you have any gut feeling against it...go with the instinct.

As a respected stylist and colorist who always considers my client's well being and hair preservation...you couldn't pay me enough to do this treatment on anyone.
