The patient will be in obvious pain. 2. Moderate to severe bleeding at site of trauma. 3. Breathing may be impaired such as shortness of breath, hissing noise and shallow. 4. Patient may be coughing up frothy blood (hemoptysis). 5. The chest may not rise evenly with each breath. 6. Asymmetry of the chest while inhaling and exhaling. Parts of the chest may rise up while the other side goes down. 7. Blueness of the finger tips and lips (cyanosis) due to decrease oxygen levels. 8. General signs and symptoms of hypovolemic shock including rapid and weak heartbeat. 9. Unconsciousness may develop.
