The person's appetite stops. It's a natural way of shutting down the body. You can live on without food for weeks, especially when the person spiritually and mentally isn't ready to let go. The person does not want to have contact with many people anymore, if any. The separation has begun. Soon the person does not want to drink. That's ok. A person dying a natural way does not suffer during dehydration. They will not live past 3 or 4 days. The body dehydrates and the person dies. When we force liquid into a dying person, the lungs fill up with water and the dying person has a hard time breathing. It is better to let nature take it's course. Tell the person that it is ok to let go. That things will be fine. Let them know that they are loved and won't be forgotten. It gives them peace.
