There are igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks. Igneous rocks form when melted or molten rocks from deep below Earth's surface cools and hardens. Sedimentary rocks form when sand, particles of rocks, soil, and the remains of dead animals or organisms create heat and pressure and turn into one rock. Metamorphic rocks are created when any rock (igneous, sedimentary, even old metamorphic) is under heat and pressure and it creates metamorphic rock.

If you are trying to figure this out like i was well then you are out of hope but good thing you came here where anybody can get on here and type anything you are really smart people really smart ok here is the answer for your question "When mineral grains flatten and line up in parallel layers, the metamorphic rock is said to have a foliated or banded texture.Two examples of foliated rocks are slate and gneiss." There is my answer for it i dont think it is right but i read my paper and took an educated guess. No i am not in high school or in collage i am in the middle school i am 12 and somewhere in the USA not telling because that is too MUCH information so have fun and my nickname is jp52 (not real name) if you know the real answer well then post it ok then i guess i am done here post back.
