The tissues are called epithelium, which are made of epithelial cells. There are different types of epithelium. In the urinary bladder, the cells are transitional epithelium, which allows it to stretch and shrink.

The urinary system (just like any other system in the human body) is composed of several organs, not just tissues. Although the organs themselves are made of tissues. The key components of the urinary (excretory) system are:

  • Two kidneys which filter water-soluble waste from the blood
  • Two ureters which send the urine from the kidneys to the bladder
  • The bladder which collects urine before it is expelled from the body
  • The urethra which is a tube connecting the bladder to the genitals
  • Two sphincter muscles which allow for regulation and control of the excretion process

Does the human bladder consist of goblet cells?

Yes it does. Though it is not totally made of goblet cells, it is made of different tissues that allow it to expand and contract. The goblet cells in the inner lining produce mucus and are found wherever there is columnar epithelium in the body. This can be in the urinary system, the gastrointestinal tract, and respiratory system.
