The Protestants and the Catholics have fought for many years in Ireland but it was for political reasons rather than religious ones. The Protestants wanted the head of the Church of England to rule which is the King or Queen of England. There isn't any fighting now.

You are referring to Catholics and Protestants, but it is a misconception to say they are not getting on. Catholics and Protestants in Ireland generally do get on well. In Northern Ireland there have been some problems, but even there a lot of Catholics and Protestants have no problems with each other.
