African elephants
African and Asian
------------------------------------
Not quite :-)
Traditionally the answer to this question would be:-
The African elephant (Loxodonta Africana)
and the Asian Elephant (Elephas Maximus)
However, it is becoming clear that there are more than just two species.
In a report in Science magazine (Vol. 293, 24 August 2001) researchers studying DNA sequences from nearly 200 African elephants found genetic distinctions that they argue warrant separation of African elephants into two distinct species: those inhabiting the Savannah (Loxodonta africana) and the smaller elephants in Africa's tropical forests (Loxodonta cyclotis).
It is also clear the pygmy Elephants (Elephas maximus borneensis) on the island of Borneo are so different from their African and Asian cousins that they have been given a species category of their own.
Thus it would appear that there a 4 species of elephant!
The two main ones are the African elephant and the Indian elephant
The two main species of Elephants are:
* African Elephants * Asian Elephants
elephant
There are 3 elephant species in the genus loxodonta(African Elephant): African Elephant, African Bush Elephant, and African Forest ElephantThere is only 1 elephant species in the genus Elephas maximus (Asian Elephant), but it can be divided into 4 sub-species.
The two main breeds are * African elephants and * Asian elephants
There are three types of elephant species alive still. 1 African forest elephant (Africa) (Loxodonta cyclotis) 2 African bush elephant (Africa) (Loxodonta africana) 3 Asian Elephant (Asia) (Elephas maximus) Extinct species are the Mammoth and the Mastodon.
There are three species of elephant alive today. Two, the African bush elephant and the African forest elephant, live in Africa. The third, the Asiatic elephant, lives in rainforests, woodlands, and savannas of southern Asia.
African Elephant (Loxodonta africana) and Asian Elephant (Elephas maximus). Some people now think there are three species of Elephant, treating the two races of African Elephant as separate species.
The African elephant is the larger of the two species.
there are the plains elephant, and the Savannah elephant
elephant
There are actually three species of elephants: Elephas maximus the asiatic elephant Loxodonta africana the savannan or bush elephant Loxodonta cyclotis the forest elephant
An African Savannah elephant is one of the two species of African elephant, Latin name Loxodonta africana.
An African forest elephant is one of the two species of African elephant, Latin name Loxodonta cyclotis.
The elephant belongs to two genera: Elephans and Loxodonta. The three species of Loxodonta include africana, cyclotis and maximus
Of the two species of elephant, the Asian Elephant is endangered and the African Elephant is currently considered vulnerable. There is some debate about the conservation status of the African Elephant. No octopus is currently on the Endangered or Threatened list, however little is known about the population sizes for most octopus species.

Yes, it is the largest species, and is found in two species, the bush and forest varieties.
The two main breeds are * African elephants and * Asian elephants
