The two main steps in protein syntheis are transcriptionand translation. In transcription, the enzyme RNA Polymerase uses a DNA strand as a template to make a transcript of messenger RNA. This transcript is then translated into protein by the ribosome.

In order for translation to occur mRNA must migrate to the ribosomes. When they migrate to the ribosomes the initiation complex is formed.

When protein synthesis must take place, the code to make the protein is on the DNA in the nucleus but the protein is made at a ribosomal site in the cytoplasm. The code is copied from the DNA by a special molecule called messenger RNA (mRNA) which leaves the nucleus through a pore to go to the ribosome.

Proteins are produced in all cells by protein synthesis. It requires the mRNA molecule produced from DNA in nucleus. Once it is transported to cytoplasm, ribosomes and tRNA molecules and enzymes will carry out protein synthesis.
