There is no real Easter ceremony- Some churches host Palm Sunday, which is when Jesus was greeted by people who laid palms on the side of the street, The Sunday before Easter; Other than that there is no real ceremony, Just the regular festvities(Easter egg hunt, Easter baskets, feast, family gatherings, ect.

It starts out with Palm Sunday, people were worshipping Him by laying down palms before Him while he was riding on a donkey, and the chief priests, and the scribes, and the leaders of the people sought how to kill Him for they feared the people. Christians have special services on that day, e.g., special plays and songs are presented relating to that scenario, praise and worship, the appropriate word of God given, and communion. Then on Good Friday, the Friday before Easter Sunday, services of worshiping and honoring the Lord, special musical presentations, communion, and hearing the word of God of what happened on that day. Jesus was tried and crucified on a cross. He took and bore all of our sins (all the sins of all humankind) on Him that day, dying as a living sacrifice for sin so that people could be set free from its power. He was buried in a tomb and a giant stone was put in front of the entrance so that no one could steal His body and soldiers were to guard it.

On the third day, Jesus arose from the dead and appeared to His disciples, after the some women and disciples came to the tomb and found the stone rolled away with no body inside. Then angels spoke to them and said He is not here but has risen. Jesus touching the sin-stained and suffering world in order to bring us back to God, exemplifies His compassion for the brokenhearted, sick, mistreated, and bereaved. All we have to do is repent of our sins and to ask Jesus to forgive our sins, and to ask the Lord to come into our hearts and lives. (This is the free gift of salvation from sin and death). On Easter Sunday, we celebrate this great victory of Jesus' death and resurrection. Christian churches celebrate the victory with sunrise services and afterwards, breakfast or brunch. Then there are services held later in the morning with special emphasis on the occasion with praise and worship, special music, plays, communion, and a special sermon given to the occasion. If we do not wish to ask to Jesus to forgive us our sins, we will not go to heaven but die an eternal death in a place called hell with the devil and his angels. Jesus does not wish for us to go to that horrible place. He is a gentleman though, and does not force us to accept His free gift of salvation. We make the decision and choose where we will go when we die.

Why do people celebrate Easter Monday?

Easter is the most important annual religious feast in the Christian liturgical year.According to Christian scripture, Jesus was resurrected from the dead on the third day after his crucifixion. Some Christians celebrate this resurrection on Easter Day or Easter Sunday (also Resurrection Day or Resurrection Sunday), two days after Good Friday and three days after Maundy Thursday. The chronology of his death and resurrection is variously interpreted to be between AD 26 and AD 36. Easter also refers to the season of the church year called Eastertide or the Easter Season. Traditionally the Easter Season lasted for the forty days from Easter Day until Ascension Day but now officially lasts for the fifty days until Pentecost. The first week of the Easter Season is known as Easter Week or the Octave of Easter. Easter also marks the end of Lent, a season of fasting, prayer, and penance.

Is Easter celebrated in Australia?

The complicated dating for Easter was set in 325 at the Council of Nicaea, which scheduled the festival to be celebrated on the first Sunday following the full moon occurring next after the vernal equinox (about March 21); however, if the full moon occurs on a Sunday, Easter will be celebrated the following Sunday. Hence, the date of Easter can fluctuate between March 22 and April 25. Because the Western churches (Catholic and Protestant) now follow the Gregorian calendar, the Eastern churches, which follow the unrevised Julian calendar, celebrate Easter (and other Church holidays) on different dates. In the Orthodox Churches, Easter marks the beginning of the ecclesiastical year. As related above, Australian Protestants and Roman Catholics clebrate Easter on the same date as their European and American counterparts, while the many Orthodox Christians celebrate with their European counterparts.

Why Easter celebrated?

Christians believe that that is the day Jesus rose from the dead. Easter is the celebration of the Resurrection of Christ. When Jesus died on the cross, he went to the grave only for three days. After this, some women who loved him went to his tomb to put perfumes on his body (see customs of the day). But when they got there, the large stone put in front of the door by the Romans was rolled away and there was an angel in front of the door who said, "Do not fear, He is risen." So, when you hunt for Easter eggs and wear pretty dresses, remember Christ's resurrection.

What does the resurrection have to do with Easter?

The Resurrection occurred early on the morning of the day we now know as Easter Sunday.
