∙ 15y agoThere are two main kinds of word processor, graphical and modal.
What you use in today are graphical word processors where you type is where it types on the page, and you are able to see things like bold and italics in real time.
Early word processors where modal and used markup languages for text styles and fonts. An example of a modal word processor still in use today would be vi for unix.
