Gravity is affected by the masses of the objects, and the distance between them (really the distance between their centers).

Greater mass increases the force of gravity. Greater distance decreases the force of gravity.

Factors Affecting Gravity Two factors affect the gravitational attraction between objects: mass and distance. Mass is the amount of matter in an object. The SI unit of mass is the kilogram. One kilogram is the mass of about 400 modern pennies.

The mass and the distance between them.

Why ? Answer is below...

-------------------------------------------------------

Newton's law of gravity is

F=G*m1*m2/r2

where G is the gravitational constant (6.67300 × 10-11 m3 kg-1 s-2), m1 and m2 are the masses of the two objects involved, and r is the distance between the two objects. So there are really 3 factors which affect the amount of gravity experienced between two objects. If we are talking about the amount of gravity between an object and the Earth then you take the mass of the earth to be one of the masses.

Mass and Distance. The more mass an object has the greater its gravitational pull will be. Also the distance from the object greatly affects the gravitational pull.
